This Privacy Policy explains how Jam SQL Studio ("Software", "we", "us", or "our")
collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the Software, you consent
to the practices described in this policy.

2.1 Account Information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect:
- Email address
- Authentication provider information (e.g., Google, GitHub) if you use
social sign-in
- Display name (if provided by your auth provider)
2.2 Subscription & Payment Data
When you subscribe to Pro Mode, we collect:
- Subscription plan and status
- Payment information is processed and stored exclusively by Stripe.
We do not store credit card numbers, bank account details, or other
payment credentials on our servers.
2.3 Device Registration
To manage license activations, we collect:
- A device fingerprint (a hashed identifier derived from your machine's
hardware characteristics)
- Operating system type (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
- A human-readable device name you assign during activation
We do NOT collect or store IP addresses or geographic location data as
part of device registration.
2.4 Usage Analytics
We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect anonymous
website usage statistics. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect
personal data, and complies with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR.
2.5 Local Data
The desktop application stores the following data locally on your device:
- Database connection details (encrypted at rest)
- Application preferences and settings
- Session data and query history
- Offline license cache (to allow use without an internet connection)
This local data is never transmitted to our servers.

3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Process and manage your Pro Mode subscription
- Enforce license limits (device activation management)
- Send transactional emails (e.g., subscription confirmations, password resets)
- Improve the Software based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for
marketing purposes.

4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

We rely on the following third-party services to operate:
4.1 LogTo (Authentication)
Manages user authentication and identity. LogTo processes your email
address and authentication provider data.

4.2 Stripe (Payments)
Processes subscription payments. Stripe handles all payment credentials
directly. We only receive subscription status and plan information.

4.3 Self-Hosted PostgreSQL (Database)
Hosts our backend database (PostgreSQL) for account and subscription
data. Data is stored on our own infrastructure.
4.4 Mailgun (Transactional Email)
Sends transactional emails such as subscription confirmations and
password reset links. Mailgun processes your email address solely for
delivery purposes.

5. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY

5.1 Server-Side Data
Account and subscription data is stored in a self-hosted PostgreSQL
database. Access is restricted to authenticated services and
protected by encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
5.2 Local Data
Connection credentials stored on your device are encrypted at rest.
The offline license cache is stored locally and is used only to verify
your license status when an internet connection is unavailable.
5.3 Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If
you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days,
except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business
purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).

6. COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE

6.1 Website
Our website uses Umami for analytics, which does not use cookies.
We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.
6.2 Desktop Application
The desktop application uses local storage and the system keychain to
store preferences, session data, and encrypted credentials. No cookies
are used in the desktop application.

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
7.2 Correction
You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
7.3 Deletion

application settings.
7.4 Data Portability
You may request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
7.5 Withdraw Consent
You may withdraw consent for data processing at any time by closing
your account. Note that withdrawal may affect your ability to use
certain features of the Software.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have the
right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Jam SQL Studio is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not
knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has
