JAM SQL STUDIO PRIVACY POLICY

Last Updated: February 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Jam SQL Studio ("Software", "we", "us", or "our")
collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the Software, you consent
to the practices described in this policy.

================================================================================
1. WHO WE ARE
================================================================================

Jam SQL Studio is developed and published by Aleksander Kowalczyk. For any
privacy-related inquiries, contact us at [email protected].

================================================================================
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
================================================================================

2.1 Account Information
    When you create an account or sign in, we collect:
    - Email address
    - Authentication provider information (e.g., Google, GitHub) if you use
      social sign-in
    - Display name (if provided by your auth provider)

2.2 Subscription & Payment Data
    When you subscribe to Pro Mode, we collect:
    - Subscription plan and status
    - Payment information is processed and stored exclusively by Stripe.
      We do not store credit card numbers, bank account details, or other
      payment credentials on our servers.

2.3 Device Registration
    To manage license activations, we collect:
    - A device fingerprint (a hashed identifier derived from your machine's
      hardware characteristics)
    - Operating system type (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
    - A human-readable device name you assign during activation
    We do NOT collect or store IP addresses or geographic location data as
    part of device registration.

2.4 Usage Analytics
    We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to collect anonymous
    website usage statistics. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect
    personal data, and complies with GDPR, CCPA, and PECR.

2.5 Local Data
    The desktop application stores the following data locally on your device:
    - Database connection details (encrypted at rest)
    - Application preferences and settings
    - Session data and query history
    - Offline license cache (to allow use without an internet connection)
    This local data is never transmitted to our servers.

================================================================================
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
================================================================================

We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your identity and manage your account
- Process and manage your Pro Mode subscription
- Enforce license limits (device activation management)
- Send transactional emails (e.g., subscription confirmations, password resets)
- Improve the Software based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns
- Respond to support requests

We do NOT sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for
marketing purposes.

================================================================================
4. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
================================================================================

We rely on the following third-party services to operate:

4.1 LogTo (Authentication)
    Manages user authentication and identity. LogTo processes your email
    address and authentication provider data.
    Privacy policy: https://logto.io/privacy

4.2 Stripe (Payments)
    Processes subscription payments. Stripe handles all payment credentials
    directly. We only receive subscription status and plan information.
    Privacy policy: https://stripe.com/privacy

4.3 Self-Hosted PostgreSQL (Database)
    Hosts our backend database (PostgreSQL) for account and subscription
    data. Data is stored on our own infrastructure.

4.4 Mailgun (Transactional Email)
    Sends transactional emails such as subscription confirmations and
    password reset links. Mailgun processes your email address solely for
    delivery purposes.
    Privacy policy: https://www.mailgun.com/legal/privacy-policy/

4.5 Umami (Website Analytics)
    Collects anonymous, aggregated website usage statistics. No cookies or
    personal data are involved.
    Privacy policy: https://umami.is/privacy

================================================================================
5. DATA STORAGE AND SECURITY
================================================================================

5.1 Server-Side Data
    Account and subscription data is stored in a self-hosted PostgreSQL
    database. Access is restricted to authenticated services and
    protected by encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.

5.2 Local Data
    Connection credentials stored on your device are encrypted at rest.
    The offline license cache is stored locally and is used only to verify
    your license status when an internet connection is unavailable.

5.3 Data Retention
    We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If
    you close your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days,
    except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business
    purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).

================================================================================
6. COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE
================================================================================

6.1 Website
    Our website uses Umami for analytics, which does not use cookies.
    We do not use tracking cookies or third-party advertising cookies.

6.2 Desktop Application
    The desktop application uses local storage and the system keychain to
    store preferences, session data, and encrypted credentials. No cookies
